Frequently asked questions

Below are a selection of the most common questions, however if you have further questions that are not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss.

Reflexologists don’t claim to prescribe, diagnose or cure. They aim to offer a tailored, alternate means of healing to address each individual’s specific needs.

Reflexology aims to holistically restore balance to the body. This is done by applying pressure to certain points of the feet, hands or face. It is a systematic therapy. It involves the stimulation of specific reflex points. These correspond to other parts of the body. A reflexologist will use their knowledge of the reflexology map to guide their hand movements.

Uses of reflexology also extend to post-operative or palliative care. For patients undergoing intensive medical treatment, it can help boost emotional well-being.

Reflexology is complimentary to any medical treatment being received. Please be mindful that some medical conditions may need GP consent before treatment can commence.

This will depend upon your reasons for having the treatment or your condition or illness. Usually we recommend having a treatment once a week for at least 6 weeks and then monthly thereafter. This will enable the reflexology treatments to have the most impact on your body and your health.

Please wear comfortable clothing which gives access to the lower leg; below the calf and foot, as the treatment includes working in these areas.

A foot massage works on reducing the tension in the muscles, is relaxing, improves circulation and works with larger sweeping movements. A qualified reflexologist, trained on foot anatomy and physiology will use small movements with the thumbs and fingers and uses targeted pressure-points to restore the flow of energy throughout the body and works on an internal level; addressing the body organs and systems.

Every person will have a different response to reflexology. The usual response is to feel completely relaxed, but some people experience a surge of energy. Your body will respond as it needs to, to create balance within its systems and remove waste products and toxins. You may also feel thirsty, cold, emotional, headachy, light-headed, or you may go to the toilet more frequently but as long as you drink plenty of water following your treatment to flushes any toxins from your body, then these can generally be avoided.

Yes. Reflexology is a treatment that is listed on most Health Insurance schemes and Sian is a fully qualified clinical reflexologist and member of both The Association Of Reflexologists (AOR) and Professional Reflexology (PR), which is a criteria for Health Insurance companies. You will be provided with a receipt, including these details and you can claim the money back from your insurance company.

Reflexology consists of using medium to firm pressure and is not ticklish. Many clients who have ticklish feet and they have all said that it is a completely different feeling.

Please don’t worry if you are embarrassed. Reflexologists love feet, any and all feet and your feet are wonderful, amazing and have carried you through your life to where you are now. The treatment will start with cleansing the feet, to help you relax and help your feet feel amazing.

During a treatment people feel relaxed and often fall asleep. You may feel tingling in your body or a feeling of lightness or of warmth or cold, which are all healing responses and are all positive. When working the reflexes on your feet they sometimes can feel sore or painful, but we always work within your comfort zone. When we feel an area is out of balance we spend more time here to rebalance the energy within your body. These areas will improve following a number of treatments.

Please see the pricing detailed at the bottom of each treatment page or refer to the pricing page for more information. Payment method is by BACS prior to appointment, or card or cash on the day.
