At each stage of your maternity journey, different reflexology treatments will be used to assist you through each trimester and support you with any specific needs or conditions that you may be experiencing.

For all stages of your journey; from conception, through to pregnancy, induction, labour and post-natal support, maternity reflexology is safe and effective to use. There is no evidence that maternity reflexology can lead to miscarriages and special attention is given during your first trimester to ensure you and baby’s safety. Many women prefer to not have reflexology at this time and it is completely your decision as you are the one who must feel comfortable at all times. Sian would be happy to discuss this with you.

Preparation for Birth & Birth Reflexology

Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour and often leads to a reduction of pain relief needed during birth.

Often, women get in contact after their due date to seek natural support with preparing for the birth of their baby. They do not want to be induced and would prefer baby to come by itself. To help prepare you for birth and to get things moving, a special reflexology treatment is used, working very specific points on the feet to help the body aid in the start of labour.

Sian has a great deal of experience working with women at this stage of their pregnancy. Labour normally starts within a few days of treatment with many happy Mum’s to boot. However, Sian always says that baby will come when baby wants to come, but if Mum and baby are relaxed before labour, then that is a beautiful gift to be able to give.

Sian offers birth reflexology; which if completed within the first stage of labour, research shows, reduces the time of the second stage of labour and the pain experienced. Just 40 minutes of specialist labour reflexology at any time during the first stage or 10 minutes every hour will really support you and baby during labour.

Preparation for birth and labour reflexology can really help you with:

  • Preparation for labour and labour induction
  • Relaxation; helping you to remain calm
  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Reduces time of second stage of labour
  • Reduces pain of labour
  • Supports your body through the birthing process, meaning quicker recovery for you and baby
“41 weeks pregnant with my first baby and with sweeps and inductions planned I was keen to give my labour a more natural start. The session was very calming and I could feel tightening's at various points. The following day I started having more back pain but didn’t want to get my hopes up! 24 hours after that my waters broke and contractions started immediately.... baby born later that day! I really believe the session was a tremendous help in relaxing me enough for labour to begin and even getting things moving along. So happy and glad I booked! Highly recommended!"
